Origin and History
Tai Ping Monkey King, originally created in Hou Keng village, Anhui, derives its name from Tai Ping county, now part of Huang Shan City. Named after tea-grower Wang Kui-cheng, who refined the local green tea 'Jian Cha' in the early 1900s, it gained global acclaim by winning a gold medal at the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition. The tea's flat, straight appearance features buds enveloped by two green bloomed leaves with a distinctive "red string" vein, unfurling into vibrant hues when infused.
Characteristics and Flavor
Renowned as Anhui's finest green tea, Tai Ping Monkey King grows on the northern slopes of Huang Shan Mountains. Its aroma evokes orchids, offering a natural and refreshing scent. The tea is celebrated for its clean, elegant flavor and unique "monkey rhyme" aroma, setting it apart even among top-quality green teas. Ideal growing conditions near lakes contribute to its exceptional quality, making Tai Ping Monkey King a prized choice for tea connoisseurs worldwide.
